Moving tends to be an exciting experience, but it also requires a lot of work. Here are three things you can do to make packing and unpacking your moving truck more convenient for the whole family:

Extend Your Truck Rental Time

An excellent way to take some stress off of packing and unpacking your moving truck is to extend the length of rental time you reserve for the truck. Pick up the box rental truck or have it delivered at least a day before your actual move so you have plenty of time to pack it up without having to worry about time. Rent the truck for a day or two after your move as well so you can take your time unpacking it. Getting the truck a little early will give you some time to check out the interior of the truck and plan how you'll pack everything in it to minimize damage during transport.

Color Code Your Boxes

You'll find that color coding your boxes makes unpacking a lot more convenient because you'll be able to see what's inside each box without having to actually look into it when taking it out of the moving truck. By knowing what's in each box and you unload it, you will instantly know which room it belongs in so you can store it there until you're ready to unpack it. This will eliminate the need to put all the boxes in your living room and then spend time peering into them one-by-one in order to figure out what's inside and where it belongs. Code your boxes with permanent marker colors that correspond with rooms that they belong in. For example, you can code all of your kitchen boxes with yellow markers and your living room boxes with brown markers.

Plan a Couple of Picnics

On the days that you and your family will be packing or unpacking the moving truck, you likely won't have time or motivation to make meals in the kitchen when it's time to eat throughout the day. Because of this, it's a good idea to plan picnics for those days. The evening before you plan to pack or unpack your moving truck, fill a cooler full of doughnuts for breakfast, sandwich fixings for lunch and dinner, as well as various dips, crackers, and fruits for snacks throughout the day. Keep the cooler under a tree in the yard so everyone can sit down for a quick meal at break time.

These tips and tricks should help make the overall move more convenient and less stressful for everyone involved.
