There are several safety precautions that you can take around your business to keep it safe from the risk of fire. Taking the time to make sure you are doing preventative maintenance around your building to fire-proof will give you the peace of mind that you are minimizing the chances of a tragedy occurring. Here are some things that you can do to keep the risk of fire lower.

Install Alarms

Having smoke detectors installed in each room of your business can help in case a fire were to occur. The alarm will go off at the first sign of smoke, alerting employees and customers to vacate the building. Fire alarm systems can also be a huge help. Chemicals

All hazardous and flammable chemicals should be located in an area that is away from any heat source where they could accidentally ignite. Training

If you have any other employees in your establishment besides yourself, make sure that they are trained in fire safety. Everyone should be aware as to where to find fire extinguishers and water sources.

You should have a risk assessment done to see if there are any things that you can do to increase the chance of nothing happening in a fire situation. Have routine drills so that the evacuation plan can be checked is also a great idea. You can see if the employees follow the evacuation drill plan according to the directions that were given during training and upgrade the plan, if necessary. This should be done a few times a year to keep everyone reminded of the plan.
